Dental Connections is a program that is grant funded by The California Endowment and exists through the Tuolumne County Health Department. The goal of our program is to improve access to adequate dental care for the children of Tuolumne County.
Dental Connections offers case management, transportation to appointments, and dental follow up. Our program is available for any family seeking dental help. Families on Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, or those with no insurance at all, are more than welcome to call and receive information on where to receive dental care, how to get there, and how to pay for it. There are a variety of options for every family seeking dental care. We provide assistance to families with children ages 0-18.
Due to the difficulty some families have in finding transportation, Dental Connections is able to provide transportation for these families for dental services. The nearest contact for dental care, which provides conscious sedation, is up to 1˝ hours away. This option of conscious sedation is provided for children whom have difficulty sitting still for the dentist or have a major fear of going to the dentist.
Educational brochures and dental care kits are available if seeking information on dental health for your child. Our program encourages preventative dental health; listed below are some suggestions:
- Brush and Floss teeth twice a day (or more)
- Visit a dentist every six months (or at least once a year)
- Teach children the importance of dental care early on in their childhood
- Clean baby’s mouth after feeding (even before their first tooth arrives)
There are many goals that Dental Connections wishes to achieve. One is to establish a dental home for the families of Tuolumne County. Another is to educate children and adults of all ages on the importance of oral health. Increasing access to dental care and dental health information is our priority.
Dental Connections will take referrals from a variety of locations, such as, dental offices, CHDP exams, Head Start, TGH Dental Clinic, Tuolumne Indian Dental Clinic or parents wanting help for their child. To refer a child or family to Dental Connections or for more information, call 209-533-7408.
