State's Housing Cost Jumps Again

Another record high has been reached... for housing in California. A real estate information service says the median price of houses and condos in the state surged to $335,000 last month. That's an increase of 3.4 percent over the previous month... and a 19 percent jump... from December 2002.

Also, the pace of sales last month was the highest it's been since 1988. The DataQuick service says almost 5,800 new and resale homes were sold in December... in California.
