SF Workers Get Minimum Wage IncreaseMonday, February 23, 2004 - 11:10 AM
People working for minimum wage in San Francisco will get a raise today.
The city's minimum wage rate goes up to $8.50, up from $6.75. San Francisco voters approved the increase in November, despite grumblings from some businesses that the measure would drive them out of the city. Restaurants are expected to feel the biggest impact from having to pay the higher hourly rate. Some say they will raise menu prices to offset their rising costs.
