Icy Conditions Cause 2 Wrecks Near ArnoldTuesday, February 24, 2004 - 02:10 AM
Icy conditions are reported to be the reason for a pair of accidents on Highway 4 east of Beatrice Drive in Arnold. Around 8:30 Friday night, a 17-year-old driver was travelling eastbound on the highway, when his 99 Jeep lost traction, overturned, and ended up on its right side, blocking the westbound lane.
Then, only 5 minutes later, officials say another eastbound vehicle, this time a GMC pickup driven by 20-year-old Stewart Holmes, also lost traction and overturned. Holmes's vehicle ended up on its left side, partially blocking the eastbound lane. Officials say both vehicles were going too fast for the slippery roadway. One of Holmes passengers, 20-year-old Naomi Emerson, was treated for cuts to her hands.
