Big Winter Storm Headed Our WayWednesday, February 25, 2004 - 05:30 AM
The winds have already kicked up for what forecasters are calling one of the biggest storms of the winter. Rain, snow, thunderstorms and high wind is bearing down on Northern California now.
The National Weather Service has posted a host of warnings for the region. Flood watches, high surf advisories and high wind warnings are in effect from Sonoma to Monterey. Heavy rain is predicted from today through Thursday, with some areas expected to get as much as five inches of rain before things clear up sometime Friday.
Forecasters say there won't be much a break from the rainy weather. Saturday should be clear, but another storm is expected Sunday.
Residents should be prepared for possible power outages and small river, stream and creek flooding. Also motorists can expect severe winter driving conditions as well in the upper elevations of the Sierra Nevada foothills.
