Latest In Peterson Murder CaseThursday, February 26, 2004 - 02:25 PM
The judge in the double-murder trial of Scott Peterson has ruled jurors will not be sequestered during the trial. Defense attorneys had sought to sequester the jury in the trial. The trial is expected to last five months.
Another development related to the case came out of Washington today, as the House passed legislation that, for the first time under federal law, would give victim's rights to unborn children. That means anyone who injures or kills a pregnant woman and her fetus would be subject to two separate criminal penalties. Also, a judge in Stanislaus County has issued a tentative ruling that Scott Peterson can sell his story, despite the objections of his dead wife's mother.
Peterson is charged with the killing of his pregnant wife, Laci, and their unborn son.
