Your Electric Bill To Go Down, Yes...Down

Friday, February 27, 2004 - 11:45 AM

Customers of Pacific Gas and Electric will be seeing their electric bills go down soon.

The California Public Utilities Commission approved a plan that will cut PG and E rates by an average of eight percent beginning next month.

Business customers will see the biggest reduction, with their rates going down between nine to 15 percent. Residential customers will see their average electric bill go down by four percent.

The rate cuts are retroactive to the beginning of the year, and customers will receive a one-time credit for power used in January and February.

Even with the rollback, the average electric rate will still be about 28 percent higher than it was before deregulation of the state's utility industry.
