Wine Contributes $45 Billion To EconomyWednesday, June 23, 2004 - 07:00 AM
Employment in the California wine business has increased during the past four years, according to a report issued Tuesday. The report, commissioned by winery and grape grower groups, said winemaking and related businesses employ more than 200,000 Californians. It estimates the wine sector's total economic impact at more than $45 billion, even as farmers and wineries struggle with import competition, low grape prices and other challenges.
