Acting CalCo Sheriff To RetireMonday, June 28, 2004 - 03:20 PM
As the sheriff of Calaveras County prepares to come home from Iraq, the acting sheriff has announced he plans to retire.
Randy Grasmuck has been filling in while Sheriff Dennis Downum has been helping train Iraq's civilian police force. The 55-year-old Grasmuck has worked in Calaveras County for 27 years, and he said he loves his job, but he'll be retiring when Downum returns.
In an interview with the Calaveras Enterprise, Grasmuck says he wants to spend more time with his grandchildren.
He also says he and his wife plan to travel a bit more.
