Broken Water Main Repaired

Water's back on for downtown Sonora residents and businesses.

"The line has been repaired and the system is pressurized ," said Tuolumne Utilities District General Manager Gary Egger.

Water service was restored just about an hour ago (10 a.m.) after being out since early this morning when a water main broke beneath Shepherd and Lyons streets.

Egger says area residents and businesses can expect to see a little dirty water. It's normal after doing such repairs, he says. "That comes from when you load the lines after they've been empty, you'll stir the water up a little bit."

TUD crews are flushing the water system and water should be back to normal soon in the area soon.
