Highway 49 Closed At Carson Hill Road

A car has gone over the bank between New Melones Lake and Angels Camp. The wreck occurred at at Highway 49 and Carson Hill Road near the rock quarry.

The CHP reported that three people got out of the vehicle successfully but rope rescue crews had to respond to cut a fourth person out of the wreckage

Southbound traffic is blocked, but northbound traffic is able to get through, according to the San Andreas CDF Dispatch Center.

No early word is yet available on the cause of the wreck or the extent of the injuries.
