Scouting Fundraiser Breakfast Could Beat GoalsSaturday, January 29, 2005 - 10:30 AM
It was another successful fundraiser for the Boy Scouts in the Mother Lode region Friday morning.
Scouts, contributors, and dignitaries all got together to talk, eat and donate funds to local Boy Scout troops.
At a breakfast at the Best Western Sonora Oaks, Assemblyman Dave Cogdill said scouting is a way to build towards being a contributing member of society.
"The track record, the contribution scouting has made to this country is quite phenomenal. We look at the people that have graduated scouting and hold those principles dear, and have lived their life by those principles," Cogdill said.
And Boy Scouts District Coordinator Peter Lee says their goal couldn't be simpler: "making a positive impact into the community, into the lives of families, kids in the community."
Numbers aren't final yet, but it looks like the Scouts did even better than their fundraising goal.
