Secretary of State To Testify Thursday

Secretary of State Kevin Shelley is scheduled to testify under oath Thursday before the Joint Legislative Audit Committee about his handling of federal election money.

The state auditor's office reported last month that Shelley's office mismanaged Help America Vote Act funds. The secretary also faces two state investigations and a federal probe into accusations he accepted laundered campaign contributions, and he's been accused of illegally accepting a political donation in his state office.

Last week a state Personnel Board report accused him of creating a hostile work environment in his office and using a "spoils system" to hire political supporters.
