Two Held In Connection With Local Gang Related Murder

The Calaveras County Sheriffs Department has charged Donald Maurice Pinon and Daniel Maurice-Lessiue Rocha in connection with the murder of nineteen year old David Jessop of Mokelumne Hill.

Evidence points to this being a gang related robbery. Detectives say however that Mr. Jessop did not have any known gang affiliation and ,therefore, does not appear to be the intended victim in this crime. Both Pinon and Rocha were already in custody for probation violations at the time of their arrest.

Sheriff investigators have not located the murder weapon at this time, but have received some leads in the case which they believe will lead to the location of the weapon. Both Pinon and Rocha are being held without bail. Anyone with information should contact either Detective Jon Thompson or Detective Tim Sturm at 754-6500.
