Undated -- Justices from Fresno's 5th District Court of Appeals are scheduled to hear three cases when they visit Sonora's courthouse Friday.
The justices will consider an appeal in the case of Derek Wooden who was convicted of murder and attempted murder and sentenced to serve time in prison in 2003. The justices will also hear defense arguments in the case of Leon Carr who was given a 9-month sentence after being convicted of growing more than 100 marijuana plants.
The final case to be brought before the appeals court will be a civil action stemming from a pit bull attack on a local woman.
Several students are expected to be on hand to observe the proceedings. The justices will then answer questions afterward.
