Columbia, CA -- Columbia College has named this year's recipient of the Future Promise Scholarship.
The winner of the $2000 scholarship is Nalatie Alpers of Sonora. The scholarship is funded by the two Columbia instructors who created it. Doctor Paula Clarke and Professor Ted Hamilton share their classroom and combine subject material from compatible courses into one class. The college says the scholarship is not only awarded on academic performance, but also visionary qualities, and a combination of intelligence, creativity and ethical curiosity.
Alpers has chosen to major in anthropology, and expects to transfer to the University of California in the fall.
