Los Angeles, CA -- Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is weighing in against the Bush administration on the "Minuteman Project."
He says the group of armed citizens along the Arizona border is doing a good job of reducing illegal immigration from Mexico. President Bush has been very critical of the group calling them "vigilantes." Schwarzenegger says the federal government is not doing its job and officials are obligated to secure the borders. The governors remarks have raised the ire of many of the state's hispanic legislators who called the governor's position "alarming."
Meanwhile, the minutemen say Schwarzenegger is the first governor to come forth in support of the group.
The group plans to expand it operation to California by October.
