Sonora Pass Open - Ebbets To Open Today

Undated -- CalTrans says travelers from the MotherLode will have access to two mountain passes this holiday weekend.

Officials say Sonora pass was opened yesterday after an above average amount of snow was cleared away and repairs were done on the roadway.

CalTrans says crews are working to have Ebbets pass on State Route 4 open by this afternoon. However, Yosemite Park officials say motorists wishing to travel Tioga Pass will have to wait.

Officials say that pass is still under snow that is as deep as fifteen feet in places. Avalanche control measures are also being performed in the area.

Rangers say Tioga Pass probably won't be open for several weeks.
