Police Identify Fatally Injured Copperopolis Man

Modesto, CA -- Police have identified a Copperopolis man who was fatally injured in a single vehicle rollover accident early Saturday.

CHP says 47-year-old Thomas Silveira was driving eastbound on Highway 132 near the Modesto Reservoir shortly after 4:00 A.M. when he lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway.

Reports indicate the car crashed through a wooden fence and rolled down a 60-foot embankment.

An officer says Silveira was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Investigators suspect alcohol and prescription drugs to be a factor in the crash.
