Sacramento, CA -- Health officials are renewing their warnings to horse owners to vaccinate their animals for West Nile virus.
The warning comes after 12 more horses in the state were diagnosed with the disease last week. Steve Lyle of the state Department of Food and Agriculture says this year's problem could be worse than last year's outbreak.
The new discoveries bring the total number of infected horses to 27 this year, 13 of which have died.
Officials say out of the 13, seven were not vaccinated at all, and the other six were under vaccinated.
