Sonora, CA -- Sonora Police made a seizure Wednesday of the most unusual type.
Police spokesman Mark Stinson says his department received an anonymous tip that a man was raising a three-and-a-half foot long alligator in his apartment on Stewart Street. The man told officers that he had owned the alligator since it was a few inches long and planned to raise it until it was fully grown. He also said he was planning to move the animal to a fish pond behind the apartment building when it reached an adult length of eight to ten feet.
Officers determined that the man didn't have the proper licenses or permits to have the animal.
Sonora Police along with the city's animal control officer seized the alligator and transported it to a wildlife and exotic animal refuge.
