Yosemite National Park, CA -- Yosemite National Park officials say the turnout has been good at their public information meetings; the most recent was on Wednesday drawing several people from Sonora.
Adrienne Freeman with the park says the outreach meetings are designed to educate the public about VERP, which is Visitor Experience Resource Protection. Freeman believes that VERP is a good way to look for indicators that show whether people are still having a good wilderness experience while protecting the resources.
She says it is a balancing act between exploration and preservation. The next public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday August 31st and more information is available on the web at www.nps.gov/yose
