Sonora, CA -- The City of Sonora has been served with litigation from the group Citizens for Responsible Growth in connection with a proposed Lowes Home Improvement center.
Ed Wylie speaking on behalf of the City Administrator's Office says the papers were served Friday. Wylie says City Attorney Richard Matranga will review the complaint before convening a closed City Council session September 6th. Matranga will brief the council at that time.
Wylie says the grounds of the suit are based on the California Environmental Quality Act.
The group has been pushing for environmental and economic impact statements associated with the Lowes project, which proposes building a new store at the corner of Sangunetti and Old Wards Ferry Roads.
The project was approved by the City Planning Commission in July. That decision prompted an appeal from the group, which was denied by the Sonora City Council.
