Modesto, CA -- A man suspected of being involved with at least 15 burglaries in Oakdale, Waterford and Salida is in custody following a vehicle pursuit in Modesto yesterday.
The Sheriff's Department says 43-year-old Richard Lund was spotted by an off duty Salida firefighter in a vehicle matching the description of one that was connected to the burglaries. When Deputies attempted to pull Lund over he apparently fled at a high rate of speed.
After a ten minute pursuit, deputies say Lund pulled into the parking lot of an apartment complex where he rammed his car into a Deputies squad car and then fled on foot.
Lund was apprehended a short distance away and placed under arrest. The Sheriff's Department says several items of stolen property were located in Lund's vehicle.
Lund faces burglary charges, as well as assault with a deadly weapon and felony evading.
