Sonora, CA -- Tuolumne County Sheriff Dick Rogers is following the Doctor's orders by retiring tomorrow, a year earlier than expected.
Rogers submitted his letter of resignation to the Board of Supervisors earlier this month. In his letter he stated he would serve out the rest of the term, however he recently suffered a major heart attack. Rogers has served as Tuolumne County's Sheriff for seven years.
Rogers says Undersheriff Lee Sanford will fill in as Sheriff until the Board of Supervisors decides on a replacement for the current term.
Rogers says the department is in great shape and he is confident it will carry on without him there.
