Flood, Wind and Winter Storm Warnings In Effect

Thursday, December 29, 2005 - 04:30 PM

Sonora, CA -- The days of dry weather in the Mother Lode are over until Monday, as two major storms move into the region tonight.

The National Weather Service is warning foothill residents to expect three to six inches of rain before the storms are over.

Several storm warnings have been issued, including a flood warning and wind advisories for most of the region.

The flood warning is in effect from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon in Calaveras, Tuolumne, and Stanislaus County. The wind advisory is in effect from 10:00 Friday morning to midnight Friday night.

Southerly winds will increase to between 20 and 35 mph by Friday morning, with gusts of more than 40 mph during the afternoon. The Weather Service is advising drivers to be extremely cautious.
