CHP Units In Full Force This Weekend

Modesto, CA -- Although the Sonora Area CHP have decided not to set up check points this Holiday Weekend, they will be out in full force looking for drunk drivers.

For those planning on heading to Stanislaus County to celebrate the New Year, drinking and driving is not an option.

Law enforcement agencies in the Valley are joining forces to combat drunk drivers as part of the Avoid the Twelve DUI Enforcement Grant.

Officials say there will be more than 30 additional officers on duty with the sole purpose of arresting DUI drivers. The special enforcement effort is made possible by a $516,052 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
