Gov. Declares State Of Emergency For California's Levee SystemSaturday, February 25, 2006 - 10:55 AM
Sacramento, CA -- Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has declared a State of Emergency for California's weakened levee system.
The governor says that he has found "conditions of extreme peril" in the levee system. He also says no one county has the resources to deal with the threat of further damage to the system so he is directing all state agencies to use personnel and equipment to address the problem. Earlier this week, Schwarzenegger and Senator Diane Feinstein led a Congressional delegation on a tour of the Central Valley levees.
