Heavy Sierra Snowpack Bodes Well For Summer Water UsersTuesday, March 28, 2006 - 05:30 PM
Sacramento, CA -- A series of heavy storms over the past month has left an above-average snowpack in the Sierra.
That's good news for the farmers and municipal water users that rely on the massive watershed for their annual water supplies. Today's snow survey was the fourth of five conducted each winter and spring by the state Department of Water Resources.
The surveys help the department gauge how much water will be available during the rest of the year for the 29 agencies and irrigation districts that draw from the State Water Project.
