Juhl Calls For A Balanced Community

Thursday, April 27, 2006 - 10:40 AM

Sonora, CA -- While not recommending the termination of Tuolumne County General Hospital acute care services, Shirley Juhl is calling for a balance in the community.

Juhl serves as the Chief Probation Officer for Tuolumne County and she was one of 127 speakers at the Tuesday Beilenson Hearing.

Due to the multi-million dollar drain on the general fund by T.G.H., many county agencies are enduring drastic budget reductions. This year, Juhl's department has seen a 7.5% budgetary cutback. She has lost two employees and finds it extremely difficult to replace them because of inadequate funds to offer competitive salaries.

Juhl admits the Board of Supervisors have an extremely difficult decision to make Tuesday at 2PM when they resume the Beilenson Hearing. Says Juhl, "If I had the answer I'd be first in line to help solve the problem of financial balance in the community."
