Sonora, CA -- Today should be a day of relaxation for hundreds of Mother Lode residents that participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life over the weekend.
Both Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties kicked off their events Saturday at 10:00am.
The 24-hour walk-a-thon started with a lap for survivors and featured bands, pep rallies, and a luminary ceremony to honor people who are currently fighting cancer, and loved ones who have passed away.
The theme of the event seemed to be early detection; there were several speakers who talked about taking preventative measures against cancer.
In Tuolumne County, there was something for everyone, including some women dressed up as clowns representing Curves of Twain Harte.
Their message was “Clown around with exercise.”
