Ebbetts Pass Officially Opened

Sonora, CA -- Thursday at 2PM Caltrans officials opened Ebbetts Pass for the spring and summer of 2006.

What an incredible journey to depart the California foothills and head for the 8,730 foot summit.

The beauty of Alpine Lake is truly unsurpassed following the heavy and almost record setting winter and spring snowfall. This year's snowpack in the Sierra Nevada has been measured at 180% of normal assuring California of a drought free year.

Certainly one of the highlights of a trip over Ebbetts Pass is the view of an isolated snow capped peak. A wonder of Mother Nature; the beauty of a day spent traversing Ebbetts Pass.
