3-Year-Old Lost And Eventually Found In Angels Camp

Tuesday, May 30, 2006 - 09:40 AM

San Andreas, CA -- It was a tense afternoon Friday for the mom of an Angels Camp girl who wandered away from home and got lost in the foothills above town.

Harmony Call was playing in the sprinklers with her 5-year-old brother at their home on Dogtown Road when their mom Heather Call stepped inside for a moment. Undersheriff Mike Walker said that's when the two youngsters went walking off into the hills.

When Heather Call returned outside her children were gone.

The Altaville Melones Fire Department was the first to respond and found the boy right away.

Harmony was found 3 ½ hours later by a friend of the family 2 miles away from the house.

Walker said she was scratched up but in good condition. Since she had just been swimming, Harmony had no clothes or shoes on.

Calaveras County Search and Rescue, the California Department of Forestry and a California Highway Patrol helicopter also aided in the search.
