San Andreas Rancher Allegedly Shot By Wife

San Andreas, CA -- John Ham of San Andreas was killed Sunday and his wife Tammy Ham is in Calaveras County Jail on murder charges.

Calaveras County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call of a reported shooting at the Ham's home on Highway 12 just outside of San Andreas at around 4 p.m.

Sergeant Bonnie Matthews says the call came from inside the house.

Upon arrival, deputies found the 44-year old John Ham deceased.

The Department of Justice was called in to assist with the investigation. Authorities remain on the scene where they have been all night.

The incident is being treated as a homicide.

40-year-old Tammy Ham is being held on $1 million bail.

A neighbor of Ham's says he did not hear any commotion at the time but he did hear the Ham's children playing in the creek.

Matthews says the kids were not in the home at the time of the incident.
