Fourth Anniversary For State's Amber Alert Program Monday

Sunday, July 30, 2006 - 03:00 PM

Sonora, CA -- The Highway Patrol will celebrate a four year, 100 percent success rate Monday for the Amber Alert program.

On July 31st 2002, the Highway Patrol was given primary responsibility for the Amber Alert program and since that day, it has issued 90 alerts and all 118 victims have been returned safely; resulting in 63 arrests.

Tom Wills with the CHP says the reason the program has been so successful is because of the state's broadcasters and the public paying attention to the reports.

Wills says California is one of the forefront states in the country to use the program and credits fast action by law enforcement for much of the success.
