Deer Cause Highway 49 Accident

San Andreas, CA -- 22-year old Justin Couto is recovering from injuries he received when his 1989 Toyota pickup went one on one with a deer Tuesday evening.

The CHP says the San Andreas man was rounding a curve when he saw two deer standing in the middle of the road. After hitting the deer, his pickup skidded across the lane and hit the guardrail. The car sat teetering on the edge of an embankment before going over the side and rolling several times.

Couto was taken to Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital with minor injuries. The car was totaled.
