Calaveras County, CA -- Halloween isn't until Tuesday but many communities throughout Calaveras County are celebrating this weekend.
A haunted house is open in Copperopolis from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at Black Creek Park. The Copperopolis Parks and Recreation is sponsoring the event, which coincides with the Lake Tulloch Lion's Club community Halloween party. In Burson, a kids costume party is also being held Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Old Burson Firehouse. Attendees are asked to bring along a non-perishable food item for the Santa Smiles project.
And on Sunday, Spence Ranch Feed and Supply in Altaville is hosting a Halloween carnival to benefit the Mark Twain Elementary School science camp. From 12 to 4 p.m. families are invited for costume contests, carnival games, a straw maze and haunted house.
