San Andreas, CA -- The annual holiday food drive known as Santa's Express is getting underway with a planning meeting Monday.
Since 1980 the Santa's Express program, put on by the Human Resource Council, has distributed food, clothing and toys to disadvantaged families during the holidays. Interested volunteers should come to the Monday meeting at the HRC Legal Center conference room in San Andreas from 9 to 11 a.m.
This year's goal is to provide holiday assistance to at least 600 needy families in Calaveras County.
Volunteers will help collect and sort donations, package and distribute baskets, and make calls.
Red Santa's Express collection boxes are open for donations throughout the county.
For more information, contact the food bank at (209) 754-1257.
