Mother Lode Community Responds To Two Crises

Sonora, CA -- Talk about stepping up to the plate; the Mother Lode community, in just the past week, closed in on $10,000 in donations for two youngsters in desperate need of medical help.

Caden Owsley is the son of James and Stephanie Owsley of Sonora. He is battling neuroblastoma, a form of cancer in infants.

Three year old Cody Machado suffers from Coffin-Lowry Syndrome. Casie Jachetta has taken it upon herself to organize an 11 hour Saturday fundraiser for Cody featuring a number of bands and a spaghetti dinner at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds starting at noon.

"Big Joe" Marshall and his KKBN morning partner Bridgette Fanucchi, on an impromptu basis, kicked off a fundraiser for the two boys Thursday, January 18th. $3,025 was raised for the pair.

Not to be outdone, Justin and Mary Ann on Star 92.7 followed suit today with their own fundraiser. When all was said and done, an additional $6,755.45 was raised including $.45 from a six year old girl who surrendered her Friday milk money.

The grand total; $9,780.45.

From Cody's father Brian Machado came this e-mail; "We are so blown away by the efforts of this foursome. The love and support you have all shown for our child is overwhelming and leaves us speechless. This community is awesome, the donations made by everyone are so very much appreciated. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You."
