Mother Lode Bank Opens In Murphys

Murphys, CA -- A crowd of business people took time out of their day Friday to attend the opening of Mother Lode Bank's first location in Calaveras County.

The Sonora based bank now has a loan office with ATM on Big Trees Road in Murphys.

Senior Vice President Laurie Mitchum says the bank's long term goal is to truly become the Mother Lode's bank.

Currently the bank has a branch on Stockton Road in Sonora. Regulatory work is underway for a second branch at the Junction Shopping Center. There is no opening date set as of yet.

Mitchum says the bank hopes to continue to expand in Tuolumne and Calaveras counties.

In the meantime, Calaveras County Supervisor Tom Tryon, who represents the Murphys area, says the bank's opening shows that the state of the economy in Murphys is strong.
