Sonora, CA -- TuCARE, which stands for Tuolumne County Alliance For Resources and the Environment, held its annual Dinner and Auction Friday night at the Sonora Elks Lodge.
2007 Board President Mike Albrecht was pleased with the turnout. Albrecht says, “I think this was the largest group we have ever had for a TUCARE annual dinner.” He says the organization sold 293 tickets and is estimating that 285 were in attendance. The guest speaker was Range Magazine Publisher C.J. Hadley.
Toward the end of the night, Tuolumne County Schools Superintendent Joe Silva was awarded the organization's 2007 Education Award as well as the Conservation Award.
It was noted that Silva has been a strong proponent of letting lawmakers know the importance of the Secure Rural Schools and Self Determination Act. He was also given letters of recognition on behalf of U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, U.S. Representative George Radanovich and State Senator Dave Cogdill.
