Paloma, CA -- A six-month investigation into a child pornography case has led to the arrest of 58-year old Paul Matson of Paloma.
The Calaveras County Sheriff's Department began their investigation last September when a box containing sexually explicit images of adults as well as children was found at People's Cemetery in San Andreas. Also found were hard drives, floppy discs, CDs, a digital camera and a small bag with marijuana residue. Forensic examination of the evidence pointed to Matson, a former bus mechanic for the Calaveras Unified School District. A federal criminal case was put together and on February 15 a federal Grand Jury issued an indictment charging Matson with possession of one or more matters containing depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Matson has been arrested and has been transported to the US District Court in Sacramento.
If anyone has information on the case or believe they may have been a victim, contact Detective Heather Cammisa at (209) 754-6564.
