Sheriff Eyes Substation In Mokelumne Hill

Tuesday, March 27, 2007 - 02:35 PM

Mokelumne Hill, CA -- After a community meeting to address crime in Mokelumne Hill, the Calaveras County Sheriff is considering opening a substation in the community.

The recent meeting with local officials was convened as a result of the community's plea for help to combat drug crime in the area's local cemeteries.

Supervisor Steve Wilensky says one local landlady has offered the Sheriff's Department her storefront near one of the cemeteries.

A discussion is in progress and a proposal could come to the Board of Supervisors in two weeks.
