West Point, CA -- Property owners in the West Point Fire District have OK'd a new benefit assessment to help pay for 24 hour staffing.
The vote to pay $87.50 on improved parcels and $45 on unimproved parcels passed with 61 percent of the votes. The district covers 108 square miles including West Point and Wilseyville.
The district says 24 hour staffing is a new theory to them. A trial run was conducted from November 2006 to now and has improved response times.
