San Andreas, Ca -- It appears that this will be the last week that residents are allowed to burn in the counties of Tuolumne and Calaveras.
“Because of extreme drying conditions, the CDF/CAL Fire Tuolumne/Calaveras Unit is anticipating suspending all burning permits and all burning as of 8'clock, Monday morning, June 4th,” says CAL Fire Information Officer Nancy Longmore. "We anticipate that the burning conditions will be getting worse as the month progresses.” “We are also anticipating greater than normal draw down on our own fire suppression resources because the southern California drought picture is much worse than ours,” adds Longmore. She notes that the southern California region will require more equipment augmentation than in the past.
