Calaveras County Sheriff's Department Losing Operations Bureau Commander

Keith Anderson; Retiring Operations Bureau Commander, Calaveras County Sheriff's Department.

San Andreas, CA -- 16 year department veteran Keith Anderson is vacating the Operations Bureau Commander's position for his motorcycle, his RV and retirement.

Anderson was born in San Andreas and graduated from Bret Harte High School in 1973.

He has served as a correctional aid in the D.V.I. facility in Tracy and as an M.P. in the Army in Europe. Prior to joining the Angels Camp Police Department in 1982 he was involved in law enforcement in Colorado.

Anderson joined the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department in 1991 serving as a deputy at the East Bay Municipal Utility District. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 1998. Anderson has served as the department's liaison with the Volunteer Unit.

In making the formal retirement announcement Captain Jim Macedo refused to divulge Anderson's age for fear of immediate reprisal.
