Rancho Calaveras Water Update

Saturday, July 28, 2007 - 12:00 PM

Valley Springs, Ca -- On July 5th, the Calaveras County Water District began asking customers in the Rancho Calaveras area of Valley Springs to conserve water.

The heat was causing the rate of water use to exceed the capability of the system to recharge.

“Right now, the plant is keeping up with distribution,” says CCWD Director Pat Emerson. “Once it gets to above 100 degrees though, life does tend to change.”

Watering outdoors should still only be done between 6pm and 10am. Odd addresses are asked to water on Tues, Thurs, and Saturday, and even addresses on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Irrigating on this schedule will help to keep usage within this system's design limit of 1,500 gallons (approx. 200 cu. ft.) per day per household.

Emerson says that a pipeline extension under construction on Hwy 26 is expected to be completed in the next week. This will better help the District keep a healthy balance of water supply.
