Lightning Strikes Cause Fires In The Mother LodeWednesday, August 29, 2007 - 01:15 PM

Sonora, CA -- According to Stanislaus National Forest Spokesman Pat Kaunert lightning strikes have caused eight small fires in the high country.
The fires are located in the Summit and the Calaveras Ranger districts. Kaunert adds the fires are all above the timber line and are no threat to spread or to cause danger to any community. The largest fire measures only a quarter of an acre in size.
Resources being utilized include one helicopter and a 15 member ground crew.
