Jupiter Vegetation Fire 80% Contained

Sonora, CA -- According to Stanislaus National Forest Dispatch Center Manager Bill Barrios the Jupiter fire off Italian Bar Rd. is 80% contained.

Full containment is expected at 9pm. Some crew members will be released at midnight while others will remain on site overnight.

The fire was first reported at 3:05pm by a local resident. One resident who fought the fire until resources arrived was taken to a hospital by ambulance code 2 due to smoke inhalation. No damage was reported to two nearby structures and no evacuations were ordered.

Resources were provided by the Stanislaus National Forest, CAL FIRE and the Tuolumne County Fire Department.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
