Downum Awaits Key Dates For AB900 Jail Funding

San Andreas, CA -- Despite the Sacramento promise of forthcoming budget and program cutbacks, Calaveras County Sheriff Dennis Downum states that the AB900 jail funding will not be affected.

Downum says he will ask his Board of Supervisors on March 11 for a resolution to be attached to the application. The final proposal must be completed by March 18.

In April Downum will meet with the Correction Standards Authority in Sacramento. A verbal confirmation of the $30 million grant is scheduled for May with the actual awarding of the AB900 funds set for June.
